During the winemaking process, grape marc consisting of skins, seeds, and residues is separated and dehydrated in ovens. The dried material is then ground into a fine powder and mixed with water-based PU to form a thick paste. This paste is applied onto recycled polyester fabric and then cut and assembled by our artisans to create our shoes. The corn used is sourced from non-food crops, ensuring it doesn't compete with human or animal food resources. After harvest, the corn undergoes fermentation to extract dextrose, a process that doesn't involve petrochemicals. The extracted dextrose is used to produce a polymer mixed with a small amount of PU, resulting in a strong fiber. Coffee grounds are extracted from Nespresso capsules at a recycling center in Portugal. The coffee is dehydrated in ovens, mixed with water-based PU to solidify, and then spread onto thick cotton canvas. Our artisans cut and assemble this material onto the shoes. Plastic bottles and other waste are collected, crushed into small pieces, melted, and woven into mesh for the insides of our shoes or for future laces.
